Welcome to QuidCalc, the simple way to calculate the QUID (Quantitative Ingredient Declarations) percentages of meat in both prepacked and non-prepacked products.
On 1 July 2003 a new EU directive came into force outlining the definition of meat in meat products. Products made from meat, as defined in The Food Labelling (Amendment)(England) Regulation 2003, must show a QUID percentage for each species of meat used. QUID calculations are complicated and confusing and QuidCalc has been created to help manufacturers comply with QUID regulations for meat products.
QuidCalc has been developed in partnership with West Yorkshire Trading Standards to develop and verify the method of calculation used in the program. QuidCalc results are based on the FSA (Food Standards Agency) method of calculation as outlined in the FSA guidance notes for Labelling and Composition of Meat Products.
Additional features to QuidCalc include: QUID % meat, QUID any other ingredients, check results against Reserved Description requirements, the facility to utilise up to 10 sub-recipes within a product for calculation, results reported as an ingredient list displayed in descending order in both prepacked and non-prepacked formats, calculates QUID on cooked products where required.
To use QuidCalc simply register on line and input the information requested. Results will be emailed back to the registered address. In order for QuidCalc to provide accurate calculations your entire mixing bowl recipe must be entered onto the system. It is important that recipe information entered is thoroughly checked and correct for QuidCalc to supply an accurate result for your product.
